Earlier this year, we debuted our new next-generation trash trap filter, the StormHood, and we’re happy to say it’s already been a huge success. Recently, a client reached out to us looking for a trash trap for elevated outlet pipes in round inlets, with some of those outlet pipes being as big as 60” in diameter. This was a new task for us for sure, but if there’s one thing Fabco is known for, it’s adapting to the situations brought to us by clients!
The Three Main Focuses:
- Adapting the StormHood design to a rounded inlet wall.
- Durability and stability around the larger outlet pipes.
- Making maintenance as easy as possible.
To fit the StormHood in the rounded inlet, our engineers designed an arched horizontal strut channel that matched the inlets inside diameter, with vertical strut channels used to mount the filter directly to the wall (as opposed to the standard StormHood expanding ring install that requires no wall mounting) which solved the stability problem for the large outlet pipes.
As for the task of making maintenance a simple process, our team fit the top of the StormHood with a removeable cover for easy inspection and cleaning, as well as a maintenance access port on the front of the unit that can be opened/closed with a sealed access panel. These features make it a breeze to get in there with a vacuum truck to clear out the filter.
