At Fabco Industries, water quality is our passion. For over 25 years, we’ve been at the forefront of innovative solutions to protect and enhance water quality across our home of Long Island, throughout the United States, and even internationally. Today, we’re thrilled to celebrate a monumental victory for the environment: the passing of the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act in November 2024. This historic, non-partisan decision is a huge moment in the decades-long effort to restore the beauty and vitality of Long Island’s beaches, bays, and waterways. As a company deeply rooted in this community, we know firsthand how essential clean water is—not only for our ecosystems but for the health, economy, and way of life of Long Islanders.

The Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act represents a collective commitment to tackling critical water quality challenges, including nitrogen pollution, aging septic systems, and stormwater runoff—issues Fabco has been addressing through our cutting-edge stormwater filtration products and systems. The project is estimated to generate $4 billion to modernize those aging wastewater systems and treat nitrogen pollution, as well as $2 billion to protect clean drinking water and wildlife habitats. This new funding and focus will allow for widespread implementation of technologies and practices aimed at reversing decades of environmental degradation on Long Island. The journey to this victory was made possible by the hard work of local environmental advocates like Operation Splash and Citizens Campaign for the Environment, scientists, policy leaders, and countless citizens who understood the stakes and chose to vote “yes.” It’s inspiring to see what can be achieved when we work together toward a common goal!

For Fabco, this isn’t just a milestone—it’s a call to action! We’re more energized than ever to collaborate with municipalities, developers, engineers and community organizations to accelerate the restoration of our waterways. From storm drain filters that capture pollutants before they reach our bays to innovative solutions for sustainable green infrastructure pretreatment, our team is ready to play an active role in cleaning up Long Island’s water.

This victory is a testament to what’s possible when communities unite to protect the natural resources we all depend on. Together, we’ve taken a critical step toward safeguarding Long Island’s waters for future generations. Here’s to cleaner, healthier waters—and to a brighter future for Long Island. Thank you to everyone who made this achievement possible. Let’s get to work!
